Master of Music in Performance (two years) - General Information

The Idea

Studying a Master-Program at the University of Music Würzburg stands for:

  • being part of one of the oldest German music university with a dedicated team of outstanding teachers,
  • an individual mentoring throughout the study course,
  • doing music with others in various ensembles,
  • to develop musical maturity and self-confidence,
  • being prepared for all fields of music professions.

Target Groups

Music Professionals who wish to enhance their expertise on an advanced level.

Course Objective

The Master of Music in Performance aims to offer a quality graduate qualification in professional performing. It provides students with a comprehensive understanding of a wide range of repertoire and also puts a strong emphasis on ensemble music from chamber to orchestra and band. Recitals as well as personal coaching are one of the core objectives.

Study Course

The Master of Music (M. Mus) is the first graduate degree and requires 120 ECTS. The performance degree includes not only performance specialization in all vocal or instrumental areas, but also Conducting (Choir, Orchestra), Répétiteur and Church Music as a Major (80 ECTS). Five different Minors support the core competences in Solo, Ensemble, Music Research and Vocal Arts (only for Vocal-Major).

Admission requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in music or its equivalent and acceptance into the program via an audition. For further information please see How to Apply.
