There are various professional possibilities to pursue at the University of Music, Würzburg.
The Musical Diploma (Diplommusikers/Diplommusikerin) (DM) is a course with artistic emphasis (with the option of paedagogical electives). Those with a good result from artistic studies will be admitted into the „training class“ and can then finish with the Concert Diploma. After two semesters there is a opportunity of taking a transfer-exam to the Master Class, those successful in passing the exam may finish with the Master Class Diploma.
Artistic Courses are available for accordian, early music/period instruments, conducting(choir and orchestra), voice/musical theater, guitar, jazz, church music, piano, composition, orchestral instruments and organ.
The Music Teacher Diploma (Diplommusiklehrers/Diplommusiklehrerin) (DL) is a course available for those interested in emphasising paedagogy. The paedagogical subjects include accordian, early music/period instruments, elementary music paedagogy (EMP), voice, guitar, jazz, piano, music theory, orchestral instruments and organ.
Also, at the University of Music, one can study the following teaching courses: Artistic teaching of music at Gymnasien, Realschulen, Haupt- und Grundschulen. There are plenty of additional and supplementary course available for students. The following courses are available after completing an instrumental-paedagogical (in both Digital Music Production and Artistic) major study or a teaching course:
Digital Music Production, Elementary Music Paedagogy, instrument/voice and jazz.
