Aside from the well-grounded and artistically ambitious training on the main instrument classical guitar, accents can be set from the beginning of one’s studies; for example, a basic knowledge of pedagogy, also in the context of performance training, which is especially useful for guitarists. Aside from the solo literature, this training serves the field of chamber music, the Ensembles for Contemporary Music and Early Music.

In addition to the main instrument, it is also possible to study historical plucked instruments (for example, lute, Baroque guitar, theorbo) as a second instrument in connection with the Department of Historical Instruments. One may also study E-guitar.

The Guitar Department is closely linked with other guitar departments in Europe (for example, Basel, Seville, Aarhus, Helsinki and Istanbul) with which regular cooperative projects take place (Summer School GuitarPlus, class excursions, Erasmus exchange, etc.). Meisterklassen supplement classroom studies and extend one’s perspective (Eduardo Fernandez, Marcin Dylla, Xavier Diaz …).

In the Master’s Program, students may choose among a concentration on Solo Repertoire, Chamber Music, Lied Interpretation and the Ensemble for Contemporary Music.
