Vocal Performance

The study of Vocal Performance includes 90 minutes private instruction weekly, with coaching, scenic presentation, speech training, phonetics, teaching practice as well as specialized theory lessons. Also supplemented through Master Classes by prominent singers, this instruction provides a good prerequisite for the successful establishment of oneself in various professional fields.

The University of Music Würzburg places great value on practical orientation and, with its own modern outfitted theater, provides ideal training conditions. Each semester an opera production with up to three casts is prepared and performed under professional conditions. Further performance possibilities arise in cooperation with the departments of Early Music and Contemporary Music, Choral Conducting and Chamber Music. In thematic lieder recitals, the focus is on lied interpretation.

This course of study aims toward preparation for professional employment as a soloist or choir singer at an opera house or in a salaried choir and serves moreover as preparation for successful self-employment in both private and public musical life (oratorios, lieder evenings).
