State School Music Teacher

Course of Studies for the Artistic State Music Teacher at elementary and junior high schools (preparatory schools) and college preparatory high schools (secondary schools)

At the University of Music students may choose the Artistic State Music Teacher course of study for different kinds of schools. At latest by the end of March the application for the qualifying examination must be presented.

In regard to a teaching career, this course of study makes a contribution to personal development in that it enables and fosters artistic, academic and pedagogical experiences. These provide the foundation upon which one can perceive and help fashion a differentiated future work sphere. Thereby, a sustainable basis for future work is established, coupled with an appreciation for life-long learning and the ability to motivate others for this learning.

The length of study for State Music Teacher Training at elementary as well as junior high schools is seven semesters.

For the State Music Teacher at a college preparatory high school, the following are possible: music as a double major  (GyD, second music major in 3 – 7 semesters), or a so-called dual study (GyZ, second major studied parallel at the University of Würzburg). For this course of study nine semesters are required.
